Maison Méert

Located at Place du Général de Gaulle, this iconic pastry shop has been delighting locals and visitors alike since 1814. Founded by Jean-Baptiste Meert, the store has remained family owned ever since and is now managed by his great-great-grandson Philippe Meert.

The original building was destroyed during World War I but was subsequently rebuilt with its distinctive Art Deco façade that remains today. Inside, you’ll find an array of delicious treats from traditional French pastries to chocolates, macarons and more. The signature item however is undoubtedly their waffles, which come in both plain or chocolate flavours – perfect for a snack on the go.

Maison Méert also offers a variety of other services, including catering and gift baskets – ideal if you want to bring something special home with you as a souvenir of your time in Lille. Even better, they have recently opened up two additional locations outside of Lille where customers can enjoy their famous pastries too.

No visit to Lille would be complete without stopping by Maison Méert – it truly is one of the city’s most beloved institutions, and its popularity shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
